6 Powerhouse Strategies to Elevate your Business Growth in 2024

And they are not what you think they might be…

I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions however I have jumped on board the bandwagon of the newer trend of choosing a word of the year for 2024. This was not intentional, I didn’t look for this word, more like this word came to me and spoke to me. The more I think about the word, the more I feel that it is a very appropriate word for me this year.

My word for 2024 is GROWTH.

Not necessarily in the physical sense of the word (although I’ve feel I’ve achieved the wrong type of growth over Christmas with all the overeating 🥴) but business growth combined with personal growth. Here are the top 6 strategies for Business Growth in 2024 I have planned that I believe will help achieve growth this year for both me and my clients.

1️⃣ Formally documenting business vision, mission, values and my Why

It’s easy to have a vague idea of why you are in business. However if you operate your business with an vague idea of your goals – vague foundations lead to vague results. This is why I suggest putting thought, energy and intention into developing your business vision, mission and values. Running your business true to these will be a strong foundation that will feed improvements into all areas of the business.

Also, noting your Why is a key element to business growth. If you know the true ‘Why’ you are in your business niche (not just the why being to make money to pay the bills) this will be your true North when it comes to difficult times and difficult decisions. A well thought through Why could be the game changer for you and your business. If you need some help with this, I recommend reading Simon Sinek’s book ‘Start With Why’ and/or get a coach to help you.

2️⃣ Getting help to work on mindset

I am a huge believer that we are all capable of anything we put our minds to. Although, most of us are unaware of blockages that are preventing us from achieving everything we want. These could be money blocks, visibility blocks or fear of failure among many others. I personally am aware of of several blocks that prevent me from growing my business in my current mindset. With this in mind (excuse the pun), I have arranged to work with a coach this year to break through these blocks. If I can grow personally and change my mindset on these blocks, I will move to the next level of business growth. I recommend any business owner to find a coach to help you through your blocks to get to the next level and/or achieve those big goals.

3️⃣ Formulating strategy, including annual plan and from there quarterly plans

Winging it is not a strategy – and too many of us wing it in our business everyday. We hope to achieve vague goals with vague strategy. Consequently, we don’t get the results we want. But if we work on developing an intentional strategy and, from that, formulate an annual plan including goals and break that down to achievable quarterly plans, we grow our businesses by default.

That is why I have formulated my strategy for this year, created my annual plan and am currently working on my 90 day plan. Breaking down my goals like this make them feel more achievable and give better focus to how to my projects.

4️⃣ Acting consistently on the plan

This deserves it’s own point as creating strategy, goals and plans is all very well but acting consistently is key. Breaking down the plans into baby steps and committing to complete a baby step each day/week/month will eventually lead to achieving big goals.

Also being accountable to someone for achieving your goals is key. If you commit to something and tell somebody, you are more likely to complete action. I have joined an online membership to help keep me accountable for my actions in my business in 2024 but I also have a lovely friend in business and we try to keep each other accountable too.

5️⃣ Consistently measuring and reviewing metrics

We do all this work promoting ourselves and our products, spending hours on social media, sending emails, networking etc but how many of us actually review the success of these activities? Reviewing which metrics are valuable to us and measuring and reviewing these metrics regularly helps us to ensure our strategy and planning (see point 3) is working. If we don’t measure and review, we could waste a lot of valuable time on the wrong strategy.

6️⃣ Reviewing the client journey and improving this monthly

We are so busy with ‘things’ in our business, sometimes we forget the real reason we are in business – to help our clients/customers achieve what they want with what we offer. Or maybe we are so firmly focused on the service we offer, we forget that there are actually more elements to the client journey than just providing the service. Sometimes the remainder of the client journey can be ad hoc at best. I firmly believe that if you have a purposely created client journey that focuses on removing friction and improving the experience for your clients as they progress through your business, you will have a competitive advantage that will have clients singing your praises. And who doesn’t want great word of mouth promotion?
